Takashi Murakami

Takashi Murakami is a leading post-war Asian artist known for his "Superflat" aesthetic, which merges fine art with popular culture through vibrant, two-dimensional styles influenced by anime and traditional Japanese art. His work features recurring motifs like cheerful flowers, bears, and Mr. DOB, inspired by Mickey Mouse, and is also popular in merchandise. Murakami has exhibited at major institutions, including the Guggenheim and MoMA PS1, with his artworks selling for millions. He also runs the influential art production and management firm Kaikai Kiki Co. in Tokyo.
